HIV tests negative but AIDS Illnesses

It has been a little more than 6 months since my risk exposure (unprotected vaginal) and it seems that I rapidly progressed to AIDS...

A couple of weeks after the exposure a lot of symptoms appeared: mild fever, headaches, enlarged lymph nodes, dizzines, tiredness, oral thrush (assumption), esophageal thrush (assumption too, but the symptoms point it).

My tests:

- 6 weeks DUO Negative

- 8 weeks DUO and Rapid test both Negative

- 13 weeks DUO Negative

- 17 weeks ELISA Combo Negative

- 21 weeks DUO Negative

I know what you'd probably mean after that... my tests are conclusive, because they were negative beyond 6 weeks, tests overrule symptoms, move on, etc. And it's true, in NORMAL cases, but I think my case is not a normal one beacuse the symptons never remitted. It has been 6 months and the symptoms dont want to go away.

I am very concerned specially about the running mild fever, since the exposure my temp rarely has been below 37.4 and I'm sweating a lot all the time, specially in the afternoon and night, also about the oral and esophageal yeast that is not diagnosed by a Doctor but the symptoms are compatible, beacuse I have white spots inner my cheeks, my tongue is often whitish and the feeling of something stuck in my throat, including chest and back pain. Not to forget the lymph nodes that are still swollen.

A copule of weeks ago I began to feel dyspnea without coughing or pain while breathing... very scared about Pneumocystis Jirovecii Pneumoniae.

Last week I went to the Doc, he examined my breath with a stethoscope and told me it was normal and dimissed it as anxiety since my HIV tests are negative, but I think my symptoms are real, and are comptible with rapid progression to AIDS without antibody found.

Guys, what do you think? Why am I not positive yet? I'm scared that HIV could kill me soon.

Your tests are consistently and conclusively Negative, showing that you do not have HIV. Symptoms are most of the time confusing and misleading, therefore they do not mean much.

There is absolutely no possibility of a "self assumed" progression... No way, no how.... Seek medical help for your anxiety and OCD, HIV is not your problem,,,, rest assured.

HIV is always determined through the screening tests, not by the symptoms, so simply forget them and move on with your life normally

If symptoms are due to HIV, the test is ALWAYS positive. Therefore, your negative test results prove HIV is not the cause of your symptoms.

You are a 'Worried well'. There have many such worried well here on this forum in last 10 years.

No one has ever come back to post a positive result, it's been like that because, they consistently receieved negative result each time they tested, it became a habit for them, there are still many lurking on here  probably testing at 24 / 36 / 48 months, the good news is, the result will not change, they don't have HIV. The bad news is they have OCD, it's time to see a therapist.

A normal person tests at 6 weeks accepts their result and moves on. Sign of a paranoid person is to keep testing at regular intervals and eventually stay in denial of those result. The mind is a funny thing, when you keep telling your self some thing every day, it conditions itself, amplifies small changes and makes you delusional.

Scientifically, if you were progressing to AIDS at this point, you would've had a high viral load and apparently very easy for antibody test to yeild
a positive.

No one should be surprised with the fact that your doctor has dismissed your discomforts stating it to be anxiety because truly that's what it is. The right course of action for you is to, see a counselor in order to work towards accepting your result and moving on in life.

I don't know if it's true, but I have found some posts which users says that they came out negative in a screening test but positive in western blot. One of the users is "altodestrim".
That has nothing to do with your situation. You do not have HIV. You really should be happy about that. If you can't or won't accept your negative diagnosis then it's time to seek the help of a counselor to figure out why you can't accept reality. It's time to do that because it's the only thing that will snap you out of this irrational thought pattern of yours.

As our members have stated, you tested conclusively negative and your HIV concerns at this point are unwarranted.
