It is suggested that symptoms can last 1 week to a month.  2-4 weeks after exposure.  Symptoms are not specific.  Everybody is different and that's why you'll never get a real answer.  Or an answer that's factual.  The only way to know your stats...Is to get tested at the appropriate times. : )

Thank you for your reply I am just wondering that in the Dr. Forum it says that less than 1% of people with symptoms actually have the virus. This means that it is pretty hard to get it. Then why do people get the symptoms if it’s so hard to get the virus? It says that even if you had unprotected vaginal intercourse with an infected lady your chances are 1/200. I have read in this forum people with swollen lymph nodes and high fever and gastro problems rashes and then they test –ve my question is why do they get these symptoms is it just anxiety or what?

those odds are 1/2000 not 1/200.

yes...these "symptoms" are stress and anxiety produced.  as soon as the get their negative result OR accept the negative result...their symptoms go away.

I was waiting for you to reply when I saw your reply’s for the posts because I trust your judgment. I can understand when somebody gets a sore throat, high fever, or even a gastro problem but swollen lymph nodes how can you develop them a doubt that stress and anxiety alone can develop this.

most ppl dont actually have swollen lymph nodes...they just think they are.  when someone reads that swollen lymph nodes are a sign of ARS...they start poking and prodding...trying to see if theirs are swollen.  now this can actually cause them to swell some.   swollen nodes from ARS are LARGE...and you dont have to go looking for them...you can see them protruding from the side of the neck

Do you mean that they are only on the neck and can’t be in the groin or the arm pit for example?

You're experiencing fear because you're having similar symptoms.  That's understandable.  That never means that you're infected.  It can be anything.  You're uneducated guess is what's freaking you out.  The idea of having HIV is REALLY freaking you out.  You need to get tested at the appropriate times if you were at risk.  That's the only way you'll know. And listen to people on this site.  they have been helping people for a long time.  they've also helped me through hard times.

Thank you I got tested and I was –ve I just want to understand why was do people feel things is it just because they read about them or is it really that anxiety can cause them? I find this forum very helpful to many people in reducing their anxiety. For example I always thought that furry tongue was the first sign of HIV but after reading the posts over the past couple days I have understood that its only come after you develop the illness rather than in the begging. These debates really educate the people like me that were never exposed to these sort of information especially when we have some very educated people on this natter like in this forum or also in the very helpful doctors forum.

Thank you this was very informative. So it’s possible for you have a swollen lymph node by just constantly thinking of them it’s really sad that people can’t move on after their –ve results but I think that after reading the posts on this forum its really helpful and many people will benefit from it I hope.

Listen, you want people to relate to your fears.  I know what that's like.  BUT, if nobody is agreeing with you, then you need to drop it.  Just give it up!  Being curious about HIV is a wonderful educational experience that can benefit you in the long run.  If you're going to be anxious while curious, it can be a devastating experience and have many negative impacts on your life.  Your questions are irrelevant and you're not coming through to me or anyone else.  Therefore, you need to just give it up.

If no one can relate to your fears, then there is nothing to fear.

take care
