13 weekends ago I ago, I did a stupid thing. Out of curosity I went to to gay sauna in London. Just to have a look. Unfortunately I got involved with 2 men. It was just oral sex mainly and for certain no anal.
But when I left, I knew I had done something stupid.
A week passed and i tried to forget it, but by the next weekend I was overcome by shame and guilt.
I talked to a friend and they suggested I go to my doctor which I did. He said wait 3 weeks and go to the local GUM clinic.
Embrassed I told the nurse what happened, and she told me I was doing the right thing by being tested (she also try to calm me down by saying, everybody does silly things and Hiv is a manageable condition). She gave me a blood test (24 days after the event) and told me I would get my results in 2 weeks time (I also tested for STI's).
The two weeks were along time and during that time I found I could not sleep (also used alcohol to help me).
I went on the internet and found that the blood test (it was a Duo, should be taken from 4 weeks, why didn't the nurse say so)?
Anyway the 5 week's passed (just over 5 weeks actually) and
I prepared myself for the news. I was very relieved when I got a negative result. During the following week though it was still playing on my mind; on the time limit (24 days, instead of 28).
I had to go back to the clinic for the results of my STI (which were all clear) and asked the nurse about the time limit and would she would want my back in 12 weeks time. She said a definite, No).
Anyway by the 7th week I started to get an awful dry mouth (no salivia). Scared I went on the internet again, this is where I found this site. Reading the expert advice of Dr H. Hunter Hansfield, he had answered this question to someone and said dry mouth was down to stress. Relieved, I still made another appointment with my Doctor and told him I felt suicidel about what I did and my dry mouth. He also told me that my dry mouth was down to stress and go back to GUM clinic in 12 weeks time.
By week 8, I was a nervious wreck and went back to the GUM clinic, there a another nurse tried to calm me down and said she thought, I had a low risk exposure, that the dry mouth (which was sill happening) was down to worry and stress, but she would set up up another blood test for me and give me a rapid test (Insti, 60 second) in 3 weeks time.
Very nervious and convinced it would be bad news, I went back to clinic (82 days after the event). There I had duo blood test and a rapid test. The rapid test was negative. Waiting for the results of my duo next week. My Doctor has told me that I am almost certainly negative (has have friend), but I am not sure.
Any advice.
