HIV Oral MSM with Gingivitis

All,

I recently gave oral sex to a man. I didn't know him very well but we got friendly and drank and I have him oral sex, it was a little rough and some semen got into my mouth.

I don't have the best oral health. Am I at risk for HIV?

Sorry but I have just had a headache for days...and a sore throat and cough.

Oral sex is not a risk. Irrespective of having bad oral health and ingesting infected bodily fluid, presence of saliva would restrict HIV transmission.

You don't need to test. Please move on.

Mike, Thank you for your reply here and your work overall. Have their been cases here of becoming positive in similar situations? I still intend to test, no offense, but I just can't yet.

I don't think my friend was well educated on HIV after talking to him.
I will reiterate, oral sex is not a risk for HIV transmission. There is a science behind what I just said, as I highlighted earlier, saliva restricts transmission. Also, once you ingest infected fluid, it is passed on the digestive system which is in able of being a host for the virus to replicate. This virus can only replicate once it establishes contact with bloodstream - the nervous system.

You mustn't waste your time and money on testing, it's understandable that you are anxious, most of the time people who get themselves in a  fret over oral sex suffer from anxiety, it's advisable to see a counselor to get rid of your actual problem.
Mike,

Thank you for your advice. I will do so because the anxiety is really horrible.... It hurts.
I just can't shake this unfortunately. My throat hurts, terrible cough for over two weeks since, headaches, weakness in my arms. I know I have to wait to test but, I just feel terrible.
Well, you're choosing to feel terrible and refusing to believe that you had no risk. So you can accept the scientific fact that you were never at risk, at which time you'll feel a lot better, or you can continue to worry about nothing and keep feeling sick. It's your choice.
China,

I'm working on acceptance and appreciate your response. Thank you.
*Chima, sorry autocorrect.

It must be part viral from the cough/congestion but I haven't helped myself either. I have diagnosed anxiety so I need to revisit my medication. Thanks again.
