The chances are pretty low, especially when he says he is negative.usually people dont lie about their status. but since you had a risk (unprotected anal) you should take the test. 6-8 weeks very reassuring and not likely to change, but follow up with a 3 months test for conclusive. good luck!
To be quite frank....HIV is still the most prevalent amongst men who have sex with other men...and anal sex (bottom especially) remains the highest risk factor.
If you continue to have unprotected anal sex...there is a good chance that HIV is in your future. You would be wise to adopt a CONDOM only policy for each and EVERY epsiode of anal sex. Unless you are in a committed relationship where you and your partner have been tested together.
Get tested at 3 months post the exposure for a conclusive result, and really think hard about the risks you're taking.
Thanks for your response. I neglected to mention that the sex did begin with a condom, but it broke and stupidly we continued. We both had way too much to drink. I do regret this and I will be more mindful in the future trust me. Now the waiting game begins. I will try to stay calm.
