Unprotected Insertive Anal Intercourse

Over spring break, I got too drunk and decided to top my friend even though we didn't have a condom. Being as intoxicated as I was, I'm not sure I even inserted. What I do recall is inserting slightly and enough to get off (though he doesn't recall me going off inside him). I'm assuming I inserted at least partially for at least part of the time. Only roughly 84 hours later I first noticed a bumpy red rash developing on the backs of my hands. It lasted there for only 2-3 days and now remains only around my knees and elbows (knees are bumpy; elbow area is just red and splotchy). Furthermore, I developed a sore throat that came and went throughout 4 days (and began about 36 hours after the appearance of the rashes). No other symptoms were present. I should state that my partner had tested negative a little over two months prior and claims to not have had sex since then (my only concerns clearly being if he is lying and if he may have acquired HIV during the window period that the tests cannot account for). This was for the both of  us our first experience with unprotected anal sex.

Do I have anything to be worried about? What concerns me the most is the rash. I have never in my life had a rash before, and I just don't like the timing of this one.

I do plan to get tested ASAP. I just need some peace of mind until then.

your symptoms are not indicative of infection...but test to know your status.

hiv is not diagnosed by symptoms.

Thank you for your response. I realize that symptoms of ARS generally come 2-4 weeks after infection and generally last 1-2 weeks, but such isn't always the case, is it?

if someone experiences symptoms of early infection...it comes at 2-4 WEEKS after infection and lasts for 1-2 WEEKS.

you can test at 6-8 weeks post exposure and if you test negative, follow up at 3 months for a conclusive result.

sorry...cant tell ya whether you were at risk...if you were too drunk to know exactly what happened...we surely dont know.

better safe than sorry...test to know your status
