Unprotected oral sex and kissing

I had sex with a man I did not know 2 weeks ago. He rimmed me, then we kissed, I gave him unprotected oral sex (he did not ejaculate) and then I received protected anal sex. After about 4 days I experienced a light sore throat and it has persisted all the way until now. Again, today marks the second week after exposure. Can someone please provide any insight to any of my risks? Thank you.

You have no need to test... So testing at any time will be conclusive.

They are both antibody tests either one will do the same purpose for your needs.

And to add, for the past 3 days I have been experienced light testicular discomfort.

So what's the difference between an antibody test with a rapid oral test? Up until what time period should I test in order to be certain of the results?

Well if you do intent to test, then use only an antibody test and you certainly would not need to test out to 6 months, that was outdated in 2004.

Thank you for your insight. I really hope you're right. Regardless, I will test for a piece of mind.

You were not at risk of HIV and you do not need to test for HIV. Saliva has over a dozen elements and proteins that would render the virus inactive. There have been many long term studies on oral sex with couples who have one positive partner and there were no reported cases of transmission.

You had no risk and you have no need to test.

Thank for far all the info. I'm going to get tested up until the 6 month mark to be certain.

Also, there's a medication called PEP that you can use to prevent HIV infection if its taken within the 72 hour period after possible exposure. I also am aware of one that you can take pre-exposure. Just letting you know in the case you come out clear and negative.

On the other hand, you can also get a PCR test done as well. It is a good test.

Everyone's body is different, so it could just be a common cold or something of the sort. I am no expert, but I've gone through similar symptoms as you described and panic thinking I had the virus, and tested constantly at 2 weeks, at 3 weeks, even at the fourth week mark, and all those results were negative for me, and my situation is still pretty recent (5 weeks mark now and still negative)

The best you can do is take a DUO test for HIV 1/2 and other STDs just in case.

Receiving HIV through ORAL sex is pretty low risk, and you had protected anal sex which diminishes the chance of you getting HIV that way unless the condom broke.

Chances are you're fine, but go get tested for piece of mind and clarity. I know how stressful this can be for anyone, I've been there, and I hope everything turns out fine for you.

All the best,

JarPad

I will be going in for a rapid oral test in a few days. Can symptoms like this show up after 4 days?

Get tested. It is the best way to know.

The symptoms you describe can be due to many other viruses, etc.
