HIV concentration in fluids?

I've read a lot about hiv transmission & something that occurred to me which I'd like to know the answer to is does hiv need to be transmitted in a certain amount of body fluid or would a microscopic amount transmit? A hollow needle for example would contain a visible amount of blood/fluid but would a microscopic amount on a needle you can't see still have the same ability to infect?

Thanks Vance. So in other words, any fluid would have to be visible to the eye & not microscopic such as a bacteria could be?
