Worried ... probably needlessly

I know this question has probably been asked and answered before, but I guess I'm just looking for reassurance. Here's the story: A week ago, I bought a sex toy at an adult novelty story. I took it home and, without thinking, used it without washing it first and without a condom. It only made contact with my penis. No one else used it. Still, after use, I became obsessed with the fear that someone might have used it before I bought it and I might have caught something from it, HIV at worst or some other STD. It certainly looked new, although the box was not shrink-wrapped (none of the boxes of this product were), and the store, of course, says they don't take returns on sex toys. I seriously doubt the employees are using the merchandise and putting it back out, though I guess anything is possible. And that's what concerns me.

I keep telling myself that even on the one-in-a-million chance someone did use it and they were infected with something, it's unlikely the virus (especially HIV) would have survived until I used it. Hopefully, that's true. Anything to be concerned about? Should I be tested?

Thanks for the replies. Probably should have been washed just for general hygiene purposes, but glad to know there don't seem to be any legitimate STD risks.

you have nothing to worry about..you were never at risk..even it was previously used by an infected person, the virus wont be able to stay active in order to infect you..
having said that, you should understand that is a verry remote probability as the toy is a new toy in the box and noone would have used it...
so nothing to worry about hiv..
