Hello,
I had unprotected sex about a year and 3 months ago. I have no reason to think I contracted HIV he was a strait male that was not IDU, but I'm still woried.
I had a blotchy red rash on my trunk that lasted about a month after the unprotected sex. I did not have a fever or swollen glands or any of the other seroconversion symptoms that are associated with early HIV. I also should tell you that I started two new medications at the same time as the unprotected sex... Valetrex once a day and birth control, so I'm hopping one of the medications is the reason for the rash.
I had a rapid HIV test exactly 3 months after the last possible exposure, the result was negative.
My questions to you are... If the rash was a symptom of seroconversion HIV, the test would have come back positive after 3 months right? Also, would most seroconversion consist of other symptoms besides the rash, such as fever and swollen glands? Finally, Is 3 months enough time for an accurate HIV negative result? I just got tested yesterday again, this would have been 15 monthes, just to be sure. But I would appreciate some peace of mind while I'm waiting for the results!
