cold sore and deep kiss ?

Hi everyone,

Can I ask you, is it possible having some kind of exposure, when u have a cold sore, and you are having deep kiss ? I know if the other person is bleeding is obvious a risk, but what about saliva ?

My undestanding is that  transmission is only from sexual, needles or body fluid like vaginal or semen, never though about salive, but after reading a bit on the internet, people say it can be found in saliva ?.

There is no risk to you associated with the exposure you describe. We get many questions about kissing and oral exposure and whether or not the presence of a cold sore, bites to the lip, gum disease or other wounds in or around the mouth changes the answer to the question.  The answer is no.  The data which define the absence of any risk of getting HIV through kissing, deep or otherwise has be generated through studies of thousand and thousands of persons, some of whom had cold cores, cuts, etc.  There is no risk.  this is the case even if she was HIV infected or had had oral sex with someone who had HIV immediately prior to your encounter with her. But I know is stupid.. :( but I've been tested and was negative after 41 days with a DUO test.

if YOU have oral herpes and had a sore...WHY DID YOU EXPOSE HER TO THAT?

what I have is oral herpes which I believe is the same as a cold sore ?

You are correct. Saliva is not a method of risk for  hiv. You did not have a risk for hiv, however if one of you did not have oral herpes the cold sore is definitely a sure way to get oral herpes.
