window period about WHO

I have a question about window period,

http://www.who.int/diagnostics_laboratory/faq/window_period/en/

Window period
What is the "window-period" and how long is it?
This is the time between original infection with HIV and the appearance of Detectable antibodies to the virus, normally a period of about 14-21 days

Why is 14-21days??6weeks and 3months are out-of-date?

Thank you

Did you read what I posted? 3-6 weeks occasionally up to 3 months. That is the reason there are no tests that will give a conclusive negative test result earlier than 3 months.

The window period lasts 4 to 6 weeks but occasionally up to 3 months after HIV exposure. Persons at high risk who initially test negative should be retested 3 months after exposure to confirm results.
