Chances are very low, however you do need to test at 12weeks (3months) to get a conclusive result, however chances of an 8 week negative changing is very very low, so don't stress
I know it only takes 1 time to get it, but the sex we had about 9 weeks before I was tested was the first time we did it in months. The last time we had unprotected sex before that was probably 5 to 6 months prior, and we used to do it quite a bit the previous year, and she was definitly faithful to me the whole year and half we dated. So I would think that if i was to contract it, I would have a lot sooner.
Also, do you have any info on the accuracy of these tests? Someone told me that at 9 weeks post exposure the test was about 95% accurate.
Are false negatives common? Is there any correlation with the folliculitis?
Sorry I know I have a lot of questions but my mind is running and scanning the internet isnt helping...
Stop scanning the internet it's not a good idea
4 weeks 85%
6 weeks 95%
8 weeks 98%
10 weeks 99%
12-13 weeks 99,99% (conclusive)
So pretty much those percentages mean that there is about a 1-2% chance that my test could have been a false negative?
Is there a strong correlation between hiv and recurring folliculitis?
Yes that is correct, but that is a very negative way of looking at the situation, I would not make a correlation between HIV and skin infections simply because symptoms are not an effective way of identifying HIV
