Also, I've heard that it's impossible to get HIV outside of the body, for example, if you have a cut on your finger and you touch blood that's on a table or something, there's no risk. Is it true?

No, this is not a risk. In order for a "blood to blood" scenario to present a risk, both parties would have to have very severe wounds (think stitches) with exposure to a LOT of the other person's blood directly into the wound.
Also, the cuts on cracked hands would be superficial. They would not allow access to the bloodstream, which HAS to happen for HIV transmission to occur.
