I've read on the doc forum that they haven't seen a neg 6 wk turn pos, but it must happen right? It would seem logical that the body would produce antibodies within a few weeks in reaction to the HIV virus. Is 3 mos truly 100% conclusive. I've read 6 mos. My PCP and ID docs said 6 mos.
I suppose nothing in life is 100%. I just wonder why it takes some people 3 mos. Is it because they didn't test at 6 weeks and maybe it would have been pos then, or did their body really not develop enought antibodies until 3 mos? Has there been research on why it takes some people longer? If I was truly experiencing ARS symptoms, wouldn't it make sense that my body would be spitting out antibodies to fight the virus and it would be detected? I know I have a lot of questions, but I just can't stop thinking about all the odd symptoms I have experienced.
Your got tested with the RNA PCR at the right time and backing up the undetectable PCR at the 6 week is a very very strong indicator that you don't have HIV. Get one final test at the 12 weeks,it will be negative 100%. I guarantee you.
I hope you didn't misunderstand, I had a viral load at 2 weeks and antibody test at 7 weeks all neg. mike_no, you said something about PCR at 6 weeks. I didn't have that. I was planning on have an antibody test at 9 weeks and viral load test at 9 weeks. Would this be conclusive? It seems to me that if you don't have antibodies at 9 wks and no virus is present, then it would be impossible to have HIV. Does anyone have any thoughts?
