Paranoid again

Hello,

First of all, thank you for all what you are doing for us.. I want to tell you that I really trust you.
Could you please assess my following situation and advise me, I now I'm a bit paranoid.
I went yesterday, for the first time in my life, to the dentist. It was a simple consultation cuz I have a gum inflammation of the wisdom tooth.
The dentist used an instrument to check and touch the infected area which was red and inflated (the instrument name I think is dental explorer). When he touched me I felt the instrument was a bit sharp but I didn't make me bleed.
Because I didn't see the assistant preparing the instruments (they were already prepared when I came in) , I'm so stressed. What if they were not well sterilized or not sterilized at all.
Am I at risk?? Need I to get tested?? Should I be worried? Do you think it's irrational fear because it's my first time visiting a dentist? I have recently experienced a lot of irrational fears about hiv.

Your question has been fully answered that this was not a risk.

Hello again,

In other forum like aids Vancouver (sometimes they say there is some negligible risk when you go to the dentist).
What I want to know is, based on what I wrote and getting touched with dental explorer is a risk or not? Because when someone say is negligible it means it does exist.

Dear guitar rox,
Thank you for your answer. Indeed, each time I ask a question I feed my anxiety... But what should I do?? I can't prevent my self to ask and to seek for reassurance (I was the one who did six unnecessary tests after kissing and then I started suspected the test itself"
I will do my best to stop worrying but please answer in detail my question
1- Is it totally safe to have a dental work? In my case I didn't bleed just he touched med with that sharp instrument. Is it totally no risk?
2- MAY I PUT THIS BEHIND ME WITHOUT ANY FEAR AND FORGET ABOUT HIV? NO NEED FOR TESTING??
please answer me, I need your help and advice.

What you need to do is seek professional medical help for your anxiety condition.  If ANYTHING you fear is not one of the above three things, then it is not a risk and you don't need testing.  You will have to answer that for yourself from now on in a logical and rational way.  Get help for your anxiety issues for your own sake.

As you describe yourself as paranoid a lot and "paranoid again", I will suggest you speak to a therapist.  Our continual reassurance really just feeds your anxiety.  You'll ask over and over just for a 'hit' that continues the anxiety loop for you. We listed the risks previously.  For reference, they include having unprotected vaginal sex, unprotected anal sex or sharing injectable IV drug needles.  As you have not done that, you'll hear he answer you expect, no risk.  Please speak to someone about your anxiety issues.
