ARS question for own knowledge

Is it possible, when someone does experience ARS, to have no other symptoms then swollen lymph nodes? I believe you all read my last thread but if you haven't you can see my situation on my profile. I basically attempted brief, no more then 1 inch insertion, of unprotected anal sex as I was the insertive partner. My partner had sex one time in his life and it was protected and the condom did not break. Other then that girl I stated he had sex with, I was his only other partner even though we are both males.

2 weeks later I experienced slight muscle pain and aches but I'm an athlete and I also had a soft stool but not diarrhea. I believe diarrhea is considered three or more times of watery stools containing mucous in one day.

I had not experienced any fever or any rash but I did experience respiratory issues such as post nasal drip, stuffy nose and a slight, slight sore throat. The drip is still here today but the sore throat is gone and I still have soft stools. I understand respiratory symptoms such as post-nasal drip and a stuffy nose is not ARS related.

The thing that concerns me is my swollen lymph nodes in my groin and neck. The one is my neck just went down after about a week and a half and the ones in my groin I just recognized. I am very skinny though nearly 130 pounds and 6'0 ft (I know I, should eat a donut or something) I have one on each side in the same spot and they are about the size of a pea.

When one does experience ARS, which I do understand many DO NOT and symptoms don't mean much, are swollen lymph nodes alone with NO FEVER and NO RASH a good indication that it's not HIV related what I'm experiencing? I basically only had swollen lymph nodes in my neck for almost three weeks now but it went down a lot and the two in the groin I just realized today for as a symptom and at no point did I ever feel sick through my exposure a month ago. I just felt like I would if my allergies were bothering me a little.

Is this possible for ARS to occur without fever and without a rash and just swollen lymph nodes and also now that I'm relaxed and I can explain my story more easily I have before, do I seem like I am at risk? I know a test is the only way to know but I would appreciate it if you could tell my risk and answer my question regarding the symptoms.

Thanks:)

Many people who have become newly infected with HIV will have High fevers--101+ body rash, sore throat at around 2 to 4 weeks post--exposure.

it is not good to believe others words on their sanctity. Occurrence or non occurrence of symptoms doesn't say anything on hiv status.

So is my risk low considering the lack of fever and rash and only symptom is swollen nodes in neck and groin, considering the fact that my partner has had sex only one time with someone else in his life and it was protected nd considering the fact that here on Staten Island, of the approximate 500,000 people living here, 2,000 are HIV positive?

ARS never has a single symptom. ARS has multiple symptoms if one has them at all. HIV has no specific symptoms. Reason being symptoms are not used to diagnose HIV.

Is it true that it's highly unlikely to experience ARS when you're not experiencing a fever and a rash? I only have swollen lymph nodes but a doctor on this site said that swollen nodes with ARS are always accompanied by high fever and/or rash and typical ARS in severe sore throat, high fever and rash all over the trunk of the body?

That's my question.

No no I know what Teak said is true but what the two doctors that I mentioned had said on this website. Also, another doctor on this site said that aslong as your night experiencing a whole body rash, severe sore throat and high fever then you shouldn't worry since 92% of patients who are HIV infected experience ARS. Now I don't believe it could 92% experience ARS but I'm sure in my case that my only real symptom in Swollen nodes in my groin and neck and no fever and no rash and considering my exposure was sorta high but under the circumstances it couldn't be. The one in my neck below my chin went down a lot and then two in groin I just realized but they're the size of a pea. Maybe a little smaller, maybe a little larger.

Alright I understand. Thank you. Because Doc HHH and Doc EWH said the same thing pretty much except for the fact that it's most probably not ARS your experiencing when a fever and rash is involved. And if you have swollen nodes due to ARS they would always be accompanied by a high constant fever and most probably a rash as well.

* Although swollen nodes are common during and after ARS, it is not typical to have swollen nodes as a sole symptom of ARS.

* Is it possible that your nodes are not swollen but are just more palpable because you are underweight?

* May be what you are describing as "size of a pea" is actually normal. Remember, the size of normal lymph nodes ranges from a few millimeters to about 1–2 cm (think giant peas).

* Don't poke your poor lymph nodes too much; they may get enlarged.

* See a doctor and let him/her decide if you really have swollen nodes.
