Just to be sure

Hello. I found out that a past sexual partner was hiv positive.  I have been through alot.  The last time we had sex was about 4 months ago.  I went and got tested at the clinic when I found out (the day he found out) and it was negative about 4 weeks after.  The clinic made me come back after three months and test again negative.  They say to come back after six months to be sure but tell me they are all but certain that I am okay.  my family is worried about me. I have lost 22 pounds I wan this to be over I have learned my lesson.  However I had bad diarrhea about 3 weeks after we had sex and a soar throught and am reading all these things about symptoms and I had been sweating at night.. Should I be worried about the follow up test..? The kind of test i had was a blood test called elisa. Took a week to come back thank god it was negative but i'm still worried.  Is it time for me to relax a little bit or i'm a still in major toruble.. should I be worried about the symptoms.. clinic says no it's coincidence..?

The 6 month testing went out in 2004.

I think you ought to listen to your doctors at the HIV clinic - that's a good source of info!
They already told you that you are OK - so you are!!! The 6 month test is a mere formality.
It sounds like you are suffering from terrible anxiety, losing all this weight and not getting good sleep. Look into getting some professional help to get through this unfortunate experience.

your test at 3 months was RELIABLE and CONCLUSIVE...proving that you do not have hiv.

no further testing is needed :)
