I'll try make this as short as possible... I'm a 25 year old guy from the UK, straight, and since losing my virginity at age 17, have had around 35 female partners, many of which have been one-night stands (not necessarily with random girls, most of them have been friends, or girls that i know and still speak to). This is the silly bit... I'd estimate about half of these 35 girls I've had unprotected sex with, mostly just the one occasion. They are all white, and have been between the ages of 17 - 25 mainly, and it's always been just vaginal sex, apart from one time where I possibly had unprotected anal. Like I said, I still know a lot of these girls and have no reason whatsoever to believe any of them are HIV positive as they don't fall into any of the high-risk groups, but I've been thinking about it a bit recently, as I recently tested positive and got treated for chlamydia and it got me to thinking how irresponsible I've been over the years. I've started seeing this girl lately and we've been having protected sex but I'm wondering whether I should get tested before things get a bit more serious.
From the research I've done, the odds of a girl like the ones I've slept with having HIV is less than 1 in 1000, and even if they were to definitely have it, a once-off encounter would leave me with similar odds of around 1 in 1000 of catching it, which makes the total risk about 1 in 1million for each girl, but what are the risks to me personally if say I've had 20-30 of these unprotected encounters?
Wouldn't say I'm overly worried about this but I'm a bit worried about getting tested, I'm a lot more responsible now with protected sex and have no real desire to go out, get drunk and hook up with random girls anymore, but feel I'd like a bit closure on this before things possibly start getting a bit more serious with the girl I'm currently with.
Cheers
