Another worried "Do I have it?" post...

Adding to the lot of them...

I'm teaching in Asia right now, and at the end of April I was drunk and had unprotected sex with another foreigner. Stupid, I know.

The stats...

June
- inability to consume alcohol without a horrendous hangover
- (the beginning) light stomach aches and pains
- 2 small ulcer-like things no larger than a pen tip on the inside walls of my mouth
- flu like symptoms lasting a few days only

July
- developed heavy chest infections with green/yellow sputum lasting 3 weeks.
- gained 5 pounds during this time
- still horrible hangovers, and sick during the night after only a few drinks

August
- (the beginning) diharrhea, beginning as just sloppy and moving into watery blasts, last now 5 weeks
- stomach pains begin again
- horrible hangovers continue
- burning sensation on the palms of my hands, lasting 10 minutes

September
- continued watery diarrhea
- stomach cramps/pain
- extreme force yeast infection
- general malaise

What do ya think? I've read soooo many things about early infection saying that the main symptoms of early HIV are in the first 2-4 weeks and last only a few weeks. I'm aware that these are well past that timeline. But I'm terrified of being deported if I test positive at the hospital.

I do not think there is any. Medication for HIV does not normally start until years afterwards. But waiting 1 year is a long time and might way too much on your mind. I encourage you to test now.

Thanks, I've decided to painfully wait it out until I go back home to get tested. I'm terrified of being deported as I've heard stories of people testing positive here and being asked to leave the country within 24 hours with guarded escorts.

In the meantime, the party vibe has definitely killed itself. Any idea on the risks of waiting up to 1 year after infection before getting any treatment for HIV?

The only way you will know is if you test. Testing now will give you a conclusive result.
