Even if for some reason there was a positive result somewhere, it would have been false. A single negative after 12 weeks is enough to conclusively rule out infection. You have around 20. So, you should stop worrying, and more importantly, you should stop testing.
Thank y'all. I assume you are talking about testing past the manufacturers time you are referring to not reading the result past 40 minutes on the oral swab ? And I should have known it was just my mind because it was gone the next morning .. Plus I didn't even think I seen that line until like 18 hrs after test . I also was wondering one more thing . Let's say it would have been a real positive on that one oral swab ,is the Alere Determine Ag/ab combo good enough test to rule it out or would I have to go pay a lot of money for western blot or PCR test. Remember I had an Alere determine Ag/ab combo and another oraquick oral swab after I thought I seen two lines on that one test. Thanks again for helping
For WHATEVER reason. Whether you left it for more than 40 minutes or you think you saw another line, it doesn't matter. You are conclusively negative and DON'T NEED FURTHER TESTING.
Let this go. The test that freaked you out was negative at the proper time to checked.
You are negative. Please no more what ifs.
Your test history proves this "conclusively" .
Congratulations.
So that last Alere determine combo ab/Ag test past 13 weeks is the only confirmation test I need since it is negative? No western blot or anything else ? I'm negative and ready to move on ? Regardless of the " imaginary lines I might I have seen" ? Thanks This is the last question. Thank y'all
Yes sir, that is 100% correct.
Many experts believe the 4th generation test you took at 28 days was all you needed. Some recommend a final antibody test as 3 months.
You had another 4th generation test at 13 weeks. These are VERY accurate.
They look for antibodies and p24 antigen. The antigen peaks at 28 days when you had your first test. No need to worry about it anymore.
You completely satisfied testing requirements.
Damn I'm sorry. I'm having a hard time understanding because I don't want to chance anything with my girlfriend. Even if my oraquick would have been positive ( which I know it was negative because it only had one line after 20 minutes ) I took the Alere determine Ag/ab combo plus another oraquick oral swab , plus another oraquick oral swab today and all 3 were negative after I thought I seen another line hours after the oraquick I'm worried about was for sure negative.... I'm just worried if there is another test like the NAT or something I need to take just in case that one oraquick was positive. Me and my girlfriend are wanting to start having kids and I'm scared to death. Please put this fear away for me. Did I take enough confirmatory tests ?
If you go through the forum, you will see that we sometimes advise people to test even for 1-second exposures. If anyone here felt you had the slightest risk they would've pointed it out to you without a doubt. Nobody ((especially here)) wants infected people going around and possibly infecting others without knowing. We would say you are negative even if you had 3 other positives. A single negative antibody test at 12 weeks and over would rule out the possibility of infection.
By testing over and over again you are asking for trouble, not only is it fueling your anxiety, but you may be putting yourself at a risk of another false positive. If you have such a hard time dealing with one false positive, what will you do with a second ????
Relax, be happy, keep your mind occupied ALL THE TIME. If you don't stay occupied, the demons start to come.
You had that false reading because you failed to follow instructions.
The instructions tell you to discard them after the appointed reading time for a reason.
As sleeplessnights34 said, if we had 1 fraction of a doubt we would recommend a test.
"I took the Alere determine Ag/ab combo plus another oraquick oral swab , plus another oraquick oral swab today and all 3 were negative"
You really think these products are so bad that beyond the window period they failed to detect antibodies? Over and over again?
They'd be sued and out of business.
We've been patient but I have no more to say.
Respectfully you may need counseling.
YOU DO NOT HAVE HIV.
