You really need to discuss this with your cardiologist.
Do not stop taking Plavix without his approval!
Normally, Plavix is taken for the duration of 1 year after placing of a stent. I do not know why you are still taking it, but your cardiologist must have a good reason for it.
Stopping Plavix too early increases the risk of an in-stent-thrombosis. Blood clots then inside the stent and blocks the passage of blood leading to a myocardial infarction
No, you dont come off plavix withoht cardiology approval..
I repeat.. Very ckearly.. You do not come off plavix.
We run into this issue all the time.. They can do the procedure with plavix present..
Weve had to call surgeons from other disciplines before and give them the business.. Because not taking plavix can kill you. Your liposuction wont mean squat if youre in the grave.
They need to contact your cardiologist and discuss the risks either way and negotiate a strategy that they feel will do the most benefit for you. Either the surgeon will have to deal with it, and be prepared to transfuse if necessary.. Or you go on some sort of short term strategy thats easily reversible like heparin, or they decide that pulling plavix would be a lower risk.
In any case this is absolutely.. Positively a cardiology decision. Dont ***ever*** let anyone.. No matter how experienced or credentialed they are from, any other discipline tell you to stop taking your plavix unless they come from cardiology or vascular surgery.
