I am 47, male and recently started having irregular heart beat episodes that could last several hours and intermittent over several days. It was captured on an EKG and determined to be bigeminy and PAC. I have further tests coming up including a stress test. Up until now I have been quite active in running and interval training. During hard running, it was typical for my heart rate to get up to 166 (95% of my 178 MHR) and I never noticed any chest pains during running. I have read that possible causes of PAC are medication interactions, caffeine, alcohol, tobacco, anterior myocardial infarction, cardiac ischemia, atrial enlargement, stress and fatigue. Question 1, how typical is coronary disease with bigeminy? Is there a best way to conclusively rule out coronary disease? Question 2, are high heart rate exercises risky during a bigeminy? If yes, what is a safe highest heart rate for exercise?
