Hi There,

I am writing on behalf of my husband. He is 64 and has several health problems which are as follows:-

Bipolar Disorder medication 800mg Lithium Carbonate (20 years continuous) Paroxetine 40mg (10 + years continuous)
Type 2 Diabetes Metformin 1 tablet 500mg (for last 2 months)
High Cholestrol Simvastatin 40mg (5 years)
Stomach acid giving chest pains??? (Ranitadine 250mg x 2 per day)
Thyroid disorder Levothyroxine 50micrograms x 1 a day (20 years +)
Recently prescribed Piroxicam Gel to be used 2 x per day because of back pain (below kidney's both sides)

Other problems:-
Brown coloured Seaman, GP did not know why tested prostrate was fine and no other investigations done.
Varicoise veins on legs quite bad started at age 16.

Problem now

My husband quite often has a blue tinge to his lips, sometimes they are very purple. Went to the GP who ran bloods. Nothing proven with results. His lips continue to be blue and GP say's it is just one of those things. He also has quite bad fatigue and I have noticed his memory is not as was.

Should we be pushing for more tests?

Thank you for your time.

To my knowledge, this is a symptom of low oxygen in the blood.

I advise you to see another doctor that finds the reason.

Here you can find some info:

Hi Smiley2000

Thank you for your reply. Hubby had 5 tubes of blood taken to check out if there was a physical cause. I think probably blood gasses was one of them. However when he had his bloods taken his lips weren't blue so not sure if that would have made a difference... Thank you. I have suggested he visits the GP again, but he is so disheartened at being fobbed off all the time, that he is now refusing. I will keep at him though.

My mom also has purple lips and she has ischemic heart disease and the purple lips are a definite sign of low oxygen.  She had her blood gasses taken to confirm this.

Thank you Jesus
Unfortunately it doesn't show the link as it has stars in it. Would it be possible please to do the link again but leave spaces and I will write it in.

I have similar feelings about it as what you have said, about it being a lack of oxygen.

Regards
