Blood pressure to low after bp meds?

Hello,

I was recently put on proponolol, 10 mgs. My primary care doc said to take it only when I get the fast racing heart beats or attacks that I have been getting. The urgent care doctor said to take it every night, that if the reason i am taking them is to avoid the palps and racing heart they would prevent them by taking every day.

My BP is normally 125/75 or 118/75 and my pulse is about 80-85. After taking these meds, at night because I couldnt stand the dizzyness and slow motion effect during the day, my bp is now around 80/60 and my pulse is 50-60.

Isnt that too low? I was thinking of cutting the pill in half to make it 5 mgs tonight. Havent been able to get a hold of the doc or cardio.

Is anyone taking beta blockers to stop attacks and have normal  blood pressure? Do you see a dramatic drop in your numbers? My doc said that 10mg wouldnt bring me down so low.

Thanks,

Clarissa

I had a normal bp before beginning beta blockers.  Now it is running between 100 /70 to low of 95/65 which isn't too bad.  The had added an ace inhibitor initially but that dropped me into the 80s/50s range.  I felt really bad then and they took me off.  Now I do have some dizziness / head swimming at times during the day but it is not too bad.  I have been fatigued for so long it is hard to know if I am more fatigued now.
