I use a polar heart rate monitor when riding my bicycle. When I go into afib, it does show the rapid heart rate. Mine has been between 130 to 170 beats per minute and everything in between. The personal heart rate monitors are not made to read afib, but it does reflect the rapid pace and shows that it is irregular. I would think the nurse is using better equipment. I also work out using a Polar device. I have found them to be quite accurate, but they tend to take a bit of time to center in when an irregular heartbeat is detected. The Polar won't be able to tell if it is afib or vfib, it isn't programmed that way. The fact that you have an irregular heartbeat in my opinion should be investigated.
