Colesterol levels

Hello I am 23 yo atheletic (boxing trainer) training 6 times/week i am 68 kg 181cm
so you can imagine i am pretty skinny.
I have a hystory of high colesterol in my family
Last time i did some blood work and they found my Colesterol at 260.10
And my doctor was a bit sceptical
It is a fact that i had a big plate of pasta with cream and cheese at 3 ocklock before I go to bed and then I took the test at 11-12 oclock in the morning.
Generally the only thing i do wrong is eat very oily fried greesy food.
since i am Greek and my mother stuffs me.
So we said to retest
But what if my colesterol is so high is this a very big danger?
Am i in an age that no matter how bad my colesterol is i can take care of it?
Next time should I eat nothing for dinner and test with nothing in my system?

A cholesterol value of 260 in an otherwise healthy young man is not dangerously high now, but it warrants some more testing and possibly treatment.

First, as you are exercising a lot, it may be that a lot of your cholesterol is located in the "good" particles; HDL. You should ask your doctor for a test where total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol and triglycerides are measured. Further, you should NOT eat 12 hours before the test.

If your cholesterol is still high, you should avoid the fatty food (though as far as I know, the Greek diet is high in unsaturated fat like olive oil?). If cholesterol levels are still high, you should talk to your doctor about medical treatment.

Take the tests at 9.00 AM and avoid eating after 9.00 PM (a.k.a 21.00 European time). Not difficult at all :)

Keep in mind, this is no acute danger, but find out if your cholesterol really is high, and if it is, do something about it.

The correct way to fast is to not eat or drink anything for 12 hours before your test. Otherwise, the results are not accurate.

You should retest.

You didn't diet correctly before having your blood test.  Obviously, a cholesterol reading like you experienced is a huge risk factor if you had fasted, as directed.  Next time, fast before the test.
