Congestive Heart Failure

My 62 yr. old husband has end stage CHF with ICD placement two years ago, is doing relatively well but has recently experienced a dry hacky non-productive cough.  His Lisinopril has been increased to 10 mg.  is this cough something to be concerned with??  Please Help.

I got the cough from the Lisiniprol and my doc did not feel I should have to put up with it.  He switched me to Atacand.  Took a bit of manuevering on the dosage (had to start at 2mg and go up to 4 mg once I adjusted), but once we got it right, I have been fine.  There is no reason your husband should have to deal with this.  Talk to his doc and get him something else.

One of the side effects of ACE inhibitors is coughing. I take 20 mg /per day .
10mg at noon, 10 at midnight. Occasionally I cough while laying down right after, but no more then one or two cough … I use double pillow ….
Ask the DR if he could take them two or more times a day.
I saw a person on higher dose ,she was coughing for 10-15 minutes after taking it. Her DR said it is OK, so she just got used to it….more then that she was in good shape and she didn’t want to change to an other pill. I hope (since saw her), it won’t happen to me, but we just don’t know. She is on it about 5 years. I am on it over 3 years.
