DILATED RV WITH MILD DYSFUNCTION

My cousin lives in a third world country ( Pakistan ), and her son is 3.5 years old and he has a  DILATED RV WITH MILD DYSFUNCTION.  When he was born he had a hole in his heart and his right ventricle, after surgery and time the heart intself healed but the RV did not.  The doctors want to temporarily put the boy on:
1.  Spironide 20 mg 1/4 tablet daily
2.. Digoxin    0.2mg  1/4 tablet daily except friday

The docs said that they will put the boy on these meds for one month then see his progress but they told my cousin that he will probably have to undergo surgery again.  The parents want to avoid this procedure and are asking me
(living in canada), to find out if there is any other procedure besides surgery that can be done.

Does anybody know of any procedure besides surgery considering the situation at hand??

HI Ken,

I really appreciate the reply.  Can I e-mail you all related documents and reports that the doctors released? they are all pdf files.  You seem to know what your talking about. I do not know really where to turn, I do not know any pediatric cardiologists.  My cousin is counting on me for some insite.  Please let me know. Thanks.

The hole in the heart causes more blood to be shunted from the left ventricle to the right atrium.  This causes more blood to be in the right atrium and causes the atrium to enlarge.  The hole is usually in the septum (wall that separates left and right atria).  

There needs to be more information of the underlying cause of the enlarged RV for an answer.  There can be structual anomoly.  There could be some obstruction of the right ventricle valve that limits the amount of blood pumped with each heartbeat as well as internal pressure that would enlarge the RV, etc.
