About a year ago i went to the doctor because i suspected having Marfan's syndrome which entails MVP, Aortic root dialation, scoliosis, pectas excavatus, stretch marks, and greater arm span than leg span, and nearsightedness. Marfan's was ruled out although pectas excavatus, nearsightedness, stretch marks, and a tall thin body are present. The echocardiogram however showed that the left ventricular systolic function is prserved, with an ejection fraction at 70%. Good apparently.
The mitral valve showed mild thickening and very mild prolapse of the posterior leaflet.
The aortic valve was normal, and not dialated (confirmed with an MRI).
there was evidence of trace MR and trace TR, and no evidence of aortic regurgitation.
My question was about the mitral valve. the doctor made the diagnosis of a POSSIBLE mild mitral valve prolapse but i was unsure of this.
recently however ( after reading about the heart) i have noticed symtpoms of a dull pressure on the left side of my chest, pain in the right side of my chest by the rib cage, and shoulder and arm discomfort (potentially due to working out), i notice when i am hungry i get a pain that is noticeably above my stuck, around the middle of my chest. also i have noticed occasionally when i am lying down that i get a very strange sensation involving what feels like the blood dripping around in my chest followed by an irregular heartbeat. i have no other symptoms of MVP (if i even have this). So are these symptoms (all in my head) or should i go get another echocardiogram/check up to see what it is.
