coq10 hope i get a response unlike my other Q

well what do people think of coq10 is it helpful? someone recently told me that it's good for heart problems.  I have sinus tachycardia no big deal, just it's 115-120 bpm when it regularly should be 60-100 bpm.  I am only 22 years old, and have times of social anxiety where my heart rate goes up, and my face gets hot. so my doctor prescribed a low dose of 60 mg SA inderal.  it's supposed to be teh extended release version or something.  but i looked it up and supposedly the lowest therapeutic dose for inderal extended release is 80, so I may hafta adjust.  I also take vitamin b12(methylcobalamin), fish oil, and magnesium potassium aspartate supplement.

These are the side effects listed by Mayo Clinic. Fortunately I'm not aware of any of them on my 100mg a day!

"There are few serious reported side effects of CoQ10. Side effects are typically mild and brief, stopping without any treatment needed. Reactions may include nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, heartburn, diarrhea, loss of appetite, skin itching, rash, insomnia, headache, dizziness, irritability, increased light sensitivity of the eyes, fatigue, or flu-like symptoms.

CoQ10 may lower blood sugar levels. Caution is advised in patients with diabetes or hypoglycemia, and in those taking drugs, herbs, or supplements that affect blood sugar. Serum glucose levels may need to be monitored by a healthcare provider, and medication adjustments may be necessary.

Low blood platelet number was reported in one person taking CoQ10. However, other factors (viral infection, other medications) may have been responsible. Lowering of platelets may increase the risk of bruising or bleeding, although there are no known reports of bleeding from CoQ10. Caution is advised in people who have bleeding disorders or who are taking drugs that increase the risk of bleeding. Dosing adjustments may be necessary.

CoQ10 may decrease blood pressure, and caution is advised in patients with low blood pressure or taking blood pressure medications. Elevations of liver enzymes have been reported rarely, and caution is advised in people with liver disease or taking medications that may harm the liver. CoQ10 may lower blood levels of cholesterol or triglycerides. Thyroid hormone levels may be altered based on one study.

Organ damage due to lack of oxygen/blood flow during intense exercise has been reported in a study of patients with heart disease, although the specific role of CoQ10 is not clear. Vigorous exercise is often discouraged in people using CoQ10 supplements. "

Since CQ10 was brought up I want to tell you what two Pharmacists told me.  One was with Walgreens, and a pharmacist, I asked him "I'm taking 20mg of Zocor how many mg of CQ10 shall I take", He responded with "the lowest dosage".  I drove across the city, and asked another Pharmacist, I don't remember which chain he was with, and I asked him the same question, and he replied with "I've never heard anything like that, taking CQ10 along with a statin?, never heard of it".  He was not a very young guy who just started working as a Pharmacist, but more like middle age.

In case you wonder why I didn't ask my doctor, I did, and he said "don't waste your money".  But I read so many articles that if you are on a statin you are suppose to take CQ10 along with it.

Long story short I did take 50mg of CQ10 daily.  I got side effects, but didn't know it was the CQ10, nowhere could I read anything about "side effects" from CQ10.  I kept on taking the CQ10 and kept on feeling like ****.  Finally I found the "side effects" listed with the Mayo Clinic, and I had every side effect.  I stopped the CQ10, and in about three days I was my old self again.

Yet I've been taking Zocor for the last 4 yrs without any side effects whatsoever, same for the BP meds I'm taking, never a side effect.

My cardiologist says its only benefit is to give you expensive urine.... but my GP swears by it. I take some daily because I'm on Vitorin (zokor + zetia).

I was advised by a nutritionist to take it after I was stented and put on 40mg Zocor. Statins (apparently) deplete your natural coq10 and it has been reported that this can lead to heart failure. I'm not aware if this has ever been clinically proven but it's been widely discussed in other areas.
For me it seemed to remove the muscle aches I was going through but this could have been phsycosymatic. I'm still on it but it is expensive in the UK at about £180 per year.
I'm sure if statins really did cause heart failure by coq10 depletion, doctors would be giving us coq10!!

I took it about for one and a half years   ....I thought it was wonderful, because that was the time I started to feel much better after my heart failure. Month by month I felt healthier, was it anything to do with coq 10? I don't know. I also believed the sentiments of other people and their praising. I don't take it now, but I am planning to take it again in the future. I took the solgar coq 10.. Why solgar? I don’t know. I just like that brand. All my vitamins also solgar ..if any...now on break from them too.
. Instincts or packaging? Maybe both.
