I am so glad I found this website. Angioplasty no stents 1-20-2015, 53 yr old Female..told hereditary..diabetes type 2 cholesterol..feel lucky but scared my 1st follow up is today. Not much family support (I think they are in denial). Some med side effects..mood change..sleep tough at night..fear, etc. Came on very fast no prior signs till the series of heart attacks. Nice to meet all of you, read your posts. Wish it was under different circumstances.
The Cardiologist may have referred to it as a MI but I doubt it. They don't usually give stents for areas of the heart with no blood supply because it dies pretty quick and is irreversible. If after an hour or thereabouts all heart muscle dies which is lacking a blood supply, imagine how it would look after 5 weeks. I think it is likely that you had collateral vessels feeding the right hand side from the left. Opening your right artery would have given a better supply.
Oh yeah, I am just turned 49 had stents placed finally 01/29/15 5 weeks AFTER MI
I just diagnosed too after heart attack, that happened 12/20/14. Diagnosed ny stress and nuclear test and left heart cath which revealed 100% block Rihht artery and getting 2 stents. Wam bam thank you
Emotional stress is also a huge risk factor, so if you are regularly stressed, try to find ways to combat it. The medications you have been prescribed will help to reduce the growth of your CAD, maybe even stop its progression.
There are a lot of people who live a healthy life and still get CAD. For people who are diagnosed CAD although having normal values for cholesterol and bp, the desired levels are lowered further as the normal values turned out to be not good enough for them. So yes, you will probably be on meds for the rest of your life.
