If your symptoms are related to exertion, then a standard echocardiogram will be unlikely to pick anything up. It would really take a stress echo, where they speed your heart up with drugs. I had one of these a few years back, and they slowly increased the drugs, speeding up my heart. One Nurse watched the monitor while the technician did the scanning. They increased the drugs until I felt the symptoms and voila, the problem showed on the scan. As soon as the images were taken, the drug was stopped and within 2 mins my heart was back to normal rate again. The area of the wall motion abnormality gives them a pretty good indication of which vessel is involved, especially as they have prior images from your angioplasty.

Does the discomfort also extend up into your lower jaw sometimes?
I also found if I pushed through the throat discomfort without resting, chest pains would then start, mild to start with, but then increasing.

Hi Poddy

I would certainly go see your GP about this. The stent could be forming scar tissue, making the vessel restricted. The symptoms you describe are what I felt leading up to another heart attack. Throat discomfort is always my first symptom and my warning. I remember my first time feeling this symptom, everyone kept telling me it was to do with heartburn. I was 46 years old, and was pretty sure I knew what heartburn felt like. This was totally different, it was a horrible sensation, nothing like a burning.  Another clue as to whether or not this is angina, is when it occurs. Below are some of the things which would kick my throat discomfort into action...
1. Going out into cold air.
2. Walking up stairs or similar exertion.
3. 10-15 mins after eating (due to heart working harder for digestion)

If the symptom occurred after exertion, standing or sitting still would kill it off within 2 mins.

I certainly can relate to the throat discomfort, it's a form of Angina. When they Stented you 3 weeks ago,
Did they leave any other blockages that you know of?
Did the Angina in your throat start then?
