Heart catharization

Hi I had a Heart cath done in June of 2008 every thing was perfect but I still have the pain and I am constantly worried that it is my heart. What are the chances that it still could be my heart? I also had all the other cardiac work up done. and everything was fine.

Thank you.

I'm not a doctor, but if you've had all the other work ups, including a nuclear stress test or stress echocardiogram, then I think your chances of having significant ischaemic heart disease are very small. A coronary angiogram by itself is often normal in people with microvascular angina (like Toni Braxton has), but a stress thallium shows perfusion defects and the EKG shows ischaemic changes with exercise because the heart is not perfusing adequately even though the blockage is not in the larger arteries that are seen on angiogram. Also coronary artery spasm can cause real cardiac pain and sometimes occurs in arteries that look normal on angiography. But if there is a suspicion of that, they can try to provoke the spasm with drugs during the cath. Did you have that done? This kind of angina is called Prinzmetal's angina, usually occurs at rest, and often follows a diurnal pattern.

But there are many causes of anginalike chest pain that have nothing to do with the heart, like GI upsets, costochondritis, esophageal spasms, MVP syndrome/dysautonomia, even hyperventilation. What does your doctor think?
