If you're doing a paper on life-threatening arrhythmias, I'm assuming it's a paper for nursing or medical school. If such is the case, you should have access to an incredible wealth of information at your school's library or through a medical journal listing online that most colleges offer through an e-library with special access passes. At least, this is how it works at my school. A patient-to-patient support forum isn't the place to gather accurate information on this topic.
I am in middle school, my topic was chosen because my grandmother died of a heart arrythmia problem. I was told that I could ask questions on a forum. I chose this one because it was heart related. Sorry, I bothered you!
YIKES! Not quite the place we want to hear that someone died because of arrythmia! We try to come here to get support to be told we aren't going to die!
But there ARE life threatening arrhythmias. I think it's valid to discuss those here as well as non life threatening arrhythmias. People with all types of heart problems need support.
If you have a benign arrhythmia then discussion of a type you don't have shouldn't bother you!
All you've to do is go on Google and type what you're looking for i.e. "life threatening arrhythmea's" in the "search box" and you will get tons of hits. People on this forum worry enough about arrhythmia's even when they are not life threatening, we are not doctors/Cardiologists if we want to find out about these dangerous asrrhythmea's we have to research it for ourselves.
You'll probably find through your research that the most critical arrythmia is ventricular fibrillation. V-tach is not necessarily life threatening. A lot depends on your overall heart health. You may want to consider narrowing your topic to ventricular arrythmias, or even vfib. Some survive v-fib, but many more do not.
Here are a few websites you may find helpful:
www.heartcenteronline.com (lots of info and forums)
http://medicalcenter.osu.edu/patientcare/healthinformation/diseasesandconditions/heartdisease/arrhythmias/ (Ohio State University Medical College's website - great for info on arrythmias)
http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=1200000 (American Heart Association)
I give the lad credit; he was reaching out to learn something good.
Regards,.....marc
Not a good place for information though. Message boards are not appropriate for academic research, unless you are researching message boards LOL. The teacher must've meant professional sites like AHA or something with information he/she can cite with credibility.
too broad of a topic to be a research paper for medical school, middle schools does sound more appropriate..
I applaud you for finding this site in your search, and taking the time to ask, im sorry you where not recieved better. Alot of people on this forum hear "life threatning arrhythmia" and their heads spin off into another dimension hehe.
There is alot of misinformation being swapped back and fourth on forums, because its patients giving out the information, not doctors, and patients frequently dont get to story straight, or know the whole story..
A better place to look would be a medical journal, or medical website, not a medical website forum.. Good luck on your paper!! And im very sorry about your grandmother
