POST OP SVT

HAD SURGERY ON APRIL 9 TODAY IS APRIL 13. FEEL TIGHTNESS IN CHEST. WOKE UP WITH A BRUISE MIDWAY DOWN MY LEFT LEG.  I HAVE BRUISING WHERE ENTRY WAS MADE IN BOTH LEGS BUT LEFT LEG IS STILL PAINFUL. RIGHT LEG IS GOOD OTHER THAN BRUISING. WORRIED ABOUT BLOOD CLOTS AND WHEN DO YOU GET CONCERNED ENOUGH BEFORE SEEKING MEDICAL ATTENTION FOR IT.

Hi there,

I also asume you had Cardiac Ablation for your SVT.

I had SVT treated with Cardiac Ablation procedure, Nov. 2007.

After the Ablation, the Cardio/Electro doc had to press very hard on your groin to get the artery to seal off and sometimes they use angio-patch material to close it off and that is why you are instructed to stay in bed for 6hrs after the procedure.

I wasn't on any blood thinners, but took Disprin for a few days afterwards because of Pericarditis.

You should give yourself about 2 weeks to heal and by then the bruising and pains should have subsided and if not, then you should go and see your Primary Physician atleast.

All the best,

I have had two ablations and had bad bruiseing both times... and my heart didnt feel real normal for 3-4 weeks..I am fine now.. I am assumeing that you had an ablation or some kind of heart proceedure??/ If you had a heart ablation, you should be on blood thinners for about 90 days until the heart heals and therefore shouldnt have much risk of a clot... hope this helps..Claytex
