Pain in Jaw

Good Evening!

I am a 22 year old male grad student working on my PhD. My main concern is jaw pain. After short periods of running I am experiencing pain, specifically around my joints. After doing some light background research I saw this this could be linked to heart disease.  Before anyone responds a few points should be made.

-I was tested extensively for heart issues when I was 4 due to a benign heart murmur.
- I have scoliosis which causes one of my legs to be approx .25 inches shorter than the other. I require the use of a lift in one shoe.
-I have a degree of facial asymmetry. My jaw is visibly smaller on one side and deviates to the right when opened.

Thanks!

Just to add that it's common to have a throat discomfort accompany jaw pain. When I had angina attacks, the lower jaw felt really stiff like it was difficult to move and all along under the lower back teeth ached. This always followed throat discomfort. The only way I can describe the throat discomfort is to ask you to imagine eating a lot of very strong mint sweets. Eating a whole packet very fast and then drinking cold water. The shock you feel in the throat is very similar to that of angina throat discomfort. You would soon know if you had it because it would be a totally new sensation, it's nothing like heartburn for example.
There is something else you could look into, which is very common and stress related. At regular intervals, check to see if you are tightly closing your jaw, which you do when stressed. This will cause it to ache and you don't even realise you are doing it. Some people do it in their sleep, some move their clenched jaw making their teeth squeak. My Brother used to do this and it made my hair stand on end. It was worse than someone running their nails down a chalk board :(

Sometimes there is associated pain to insufficient supply of blood/oxygen to heart cells that is usually chest pain, but sometimes there is shoulder, back and jaw pain.  Your age almost rules out any occluded vessels, and if you had a decrease of blood pumped into circulation with a valve disorder, you almost certainly would have other symptoms such as shortness of breath, muscle fatigue, chest pain, etc.

Take care,

Ken
