This Forum

I am new to this forum, this is my second post.  Am I missing something ?I  have to say it seems that there are MANY questions  that we all have about our current problems, but no where near enough responses to give us ANY help. Altho we feel for others with problems, we are not qualified to offer medical advice.  So really all we are doing is making ourselves feel better (or worse) by just talking about our problems.  Am I right or wrong here?  Is there a better way of getting advice  - or?

I just posted under the doctors section and it didn't cost me anything, I posted under heart disease. I ahve also posted under other topics and wasn't charged some areas do charge, but to me if I have to ask a question and get advice it would be worth it.
I know these doctors can't diagnose but they can direct me in the right area

Not sure about the "ask a doctor" forum. I get the impression many of them will take 2 questions a day, any more than that you pay $20 to squeak in. I've never used those so not clear how it works. I do know it's difficult to get your question in.

The community forums are for support and shared experiences. Doctors can give us the facts and figures and draw little pictures to explain things. But often we need to hear how it feels from the patient's perspective. If someone needs an ablation or an angiogram or stent, it's nice to hear about the worries, the discomforts and the successes from one who's been through it.

I think you must have to pay the $20. fee to get an answer from a medical professional.  new to this site and after posting it becomes clear that these are just a support forums.  I too am disappointed.  Glad you said something.

sometimes the  "lay"people are our better sources then doctors are. they listen and to be honest I have posted a question about my son here before and thanks to one person coming forward and gave m e advice, I took and lets say things were looking better for him.
the doctors on the board can only give us advice as well. and yes sometimes it does make me feel better to vent about what is going on with my son, these people understand.
I think this is a great source of ADVICE not medical diagnoses, well sometimes people can say well I have the same symptoms and my doctor said it was that and then you go and boom you have found out you have the same thing that you metion to the doctor that they never thought of checking
