Ziac Betablocker Diuretic Dosage

I've successfully taken Ziac 10/6.25 Bisoprolol/HCTZ for several years. Due to Sythroid/thyroid meds I now need larger bp doses due to escalating pulse and blood pressure from it. The doctor said I had to switch from Ziac brand since 10 mg is the maximum Ziac pill size. The doc put me on 40 mg Propranolol and it didn't stop the high bp issue and I ended up in the hospital ER with 171/125 and 123 pulse readings. They then switched me to a combo type pill again, 50 mg Metropropol containing a beta blocker & diuretic - and my bp still isn't stable and indeed has risen to 171/108 a couple different days. BP readings vary all day long! I miss the consistency of Ziac since it was a bit more stable then the up and down of Metropropol. Perhaps I just need to take 2 pills of Ziac a day (20 mg) perhaps instead of 1. I'm wondering why 2 different docs have told me that 10 mg was the max, when I've read of 20-40 mg being allowed for people. Can't I take 2 pills a day of the 10 mg?

I see my internist tomorrow. Does anyone have any advise or suggestions on what to pursue with her regarding Ziac --or a more similar steady & consistent drug?

PS: I've stopped the Synthroid days ago hoping to decrease by bp med requirement and today is the first time my bp is reading lower for the day thankfully.

It's extremely important to take the medication as prescribed- information you read online can be helpful and it is something you can ask your doctor about, but if two different doctors have given you a limit of one, I wouldn't think it would be a wise idea to not adhere to that.  Each patient has a different medical history and a web search won't take that into account.

How did your appointment go?  I would just state to your doctors everything you have stated here- see what they say about it.

I should mention the last day and a half I went back to my Ziac adding 1/2 to an extra pill, and had stopped Synthroid days ago, and my bp is steady today, and is low. So Ziac seems better for my system. I'm not sure this doctor will prescribe it for me though with the 10 mg pill top dosage and all.
