If you have been taking blood pressure medication and they have worked until now, then a new cause may have developed. You don't state your age, but as we age, our blood pressure does start to creep up a bit because our arteries get stiffer. You should have blood tests to eliminate kidney function etc first. Having an infection can raise pressure, have you recently had the flu or anything?

You may need a different medication, or the cause of your high BP has not been addressed.
