cardiac ablation

I had a cardiac ablation for svt on March 14,2012. I was told it was successful ! When I went back for my 1 week ck.up I was told I could resume normal activity with no restrictions. I waited another week and started excercising. I have been experiencing palpitations off and on since then. I am hoping this is normal and am wondering how long it would last.

Dear TJC.: What you have described is normal.  I experienced the same.  personally,  i think its best to avoid activites that causes the palpitations until after the heart heals which they say takes about 3 months .. mine didnt get to feeling normal for about 4 months.. but its great now.. hope this helps Claytex

This is so typical. I do wish the EP cardios would mention this. It's quite normal for the heart to have premature beats or have false starts of tachy that last a few seconds while the heart is healing. You may feel better and more energetic but it can take a couple months for the heart to settle back into a normal rhythm. Don't be discouraged. One day you'll wake up and realize, "Hey, my heart's been quiet this past week."  Then just smile.

I have heard of this, especially while the heart is healing from ablation. From what I understand, it can be rather "normal" for the heart to throw in a few PACs or PVCs and make take a few months for those to go away as well. Did you mention this to your cardio?
