is it not a good idea for someone who is 31 yrs. old with an ejection fraction rate of 50% to donate blood.  i did so today and just about shut down and was not very good the rest of the day.  is that something i should not be doing?

Sorry to hear about the PPCM.  I'm glad to hear that your EF is rising to the point of nearly normal.  Here's to continued improvement!  Is this the first time you have donated blood? It is definitely a great question for your doctor.  Or, you can try posting on the "Ask a Doctor Forum" (see above left).  They generally accept 2 questions per day, and many people find posting between 7:30 - 9:30 EST is best.

yes i see a cardiologist now every year since my son was born.  my myopathy was caused by my pregnancy.  when it was detected i was 1 week post partum and my ef was 35% in two years it has reach 50%.  i generally feel great but today seemed like a big mistake!

Have you been told that you have a low EF?  The doctors are usually more concerned with symptoms than the numbers, but a normal EF is generally around 55-75.

Hope you're feeling better.
