fluid on lungs after heartbypass-now blood clot in lungs

Hello, hope everyone with theses problems are getting better.  My sister had heart bypass surgery on April 4th 2008, since then she has been back to the hospital 3 times...she had 6 bypasses, suffered mild stroke, and has had tubes in her lungs for 1 month and a few days, she went back to the hospital yesterday, with trouble breathing, and she had a cat scan, and they have found a blood clot on her lungs, dont know yet if it only one or more...she has really been though the mill, with this surgery, I dont understand why some people have so much trouble, and then others recovery is so great, I am worried..it seems like everything that can go wrong, is doing just that, she is so stressed and tired.  I have been staying with her most days, and i keep trying to tell her to fight it...and then mess like this happens, has anyone been though all this from having heart surgery.  she is also a diabetic, and blood pressure problems, someone stated that if the tubes were in the lungs for more than 7 days there will be a infection, could she have a infection which caused this blood clot in her lungs..Help if you can...thanks

I am sory  your sister is haveing so much  trouble, i would adress my concerns to the DR, about possible infection from the tubes. i would think they coild put he ron a anabotic to prevent this. I asume she is on bloodthinner if yuor not sure ask the dr.
at least they did find the problem. I wish your sisiter well, my wife had heart surgery 4 years ago and had to go back to the hospitiatl about a week afte rgoing home, she had Phen- fluid in her lungs.

I'm sorry I can't help you with an explanation, but I hope the rest of your sister's recovery goes well.  You're right, she has been through the mill and she needs a break.  What do the doctors say about all of the complications?  Is she in one of the area's large hospitals (I'm near Raleigh also)?  Please let us know how she is doing.  We'll be here if you need to share, vent, etc.
