A hole is usually considered a problem if over 9mm, but less that this, they will not usually recommend intervention. Holes in a heart can be treated much more now using angioplasty, where a closure device is attached to the end of a catheter, and passed through the femoral artery in the leg up to the heart.
Hello and hope you are doing well.
Mam, understand your perdicament. The ‘hole’ in the heart could be a defect in the Interventricular septum or interatrial septum. People can be asymptomatic for years, depending on the size and location of the defect. An ECHO could help diagnose this. These people are more prone for endocarditis, which could have caused her persisting fever.
Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
