very scared

Just had my first svt, heart rate was 300, they gave me adenisone to put my heart back into
normal rhythm.  Has anyone ever had their heart rate go this high?  I was so scared!
Am now on digoxcin and wondering if I should have the ablation?  Any info would be so helpful and
comforting!  Thank-you!!

welcome to the club!! don't worry about your heart going to 300. i think my record is about 285, and they just give you the adenosine. i can't give you any advice on the ablation because i've not had it done, but i'm planning on it this summer or next. one thing i do NOT recommend: whatever you do, no matter how strong the urge, DON'T GOOGLE IT!!! you will only freak yourself out. i've seen videos and it's really not that bad, just scary sounding.

good luck!!

hiya mine only ever went to 230bpm i had ablation in jan08 i had adenosine 3 days in a row mine got so severe i was in hospital for a week hooked up to a heart monitor. i had my op within 3 months of diagnosis which is not bad. i still have minor svt's now and it's still scary. have the ablation no doubt about it, i was scared at first but it wasn't that bad it's better than being rushed to a&e and having that dreaded drug every time plus i was told the wonder drug stops your heart and re-starts it again at normal rhythm the pain was too much for me i would recomend the ablation the risks are minimal. go for it !!!!

So you got the wonder drug? I HATE adenosine! There is nothing more pleasant than the feeling of a 300 pound  elephant sitting on your chest! I would make sure it is SVT first. Have you had an EP study done yet? I have hit 318 beats per minute...Every time it happened they would hyperventilate in the ER!...I have never passed out from it either.  I was diagnosed with SVT 2 years ago and for 14 months I was treated for it. My cardiologist then referred me to an EP as he couldn't keep it under control. Had the EP study done... and found out it wasn't SVT... it was VT. The reason this looked like SVT was of the "so called...location" where it was coming from, which at the time was up high in the right ventricle near my sternum. So when they did the EKGs while in V-tach... it looked like SVT.
