decided on new diet

Ok, so after a LOT of reading and cross referencing, I've decided on my new diet. I'm going for the starch diet. I started yesterday with a bowl of vegetable and a bowl of boiled potatoes. No salt, no additives and I hated it. Potatoes without salt taste like cardboard and the green cabbage was like chewing paper. Anyway, I did eat it all and it was the only meal I ate yesterday. I've had no sugar or dairy. I love my tea and today I have purchased soy milk to put in  it, dairy free. Sheesh, I opened the container and nearly fell over with the stench. The milk smells like something that has escaped from a drain system and I'm not kidding. I'm sitting here now looking at my tea wondering if I dare try it. Having such a sweet tooth for 40 years, this is going to be more than tough for me. However, if I see benefits after a month I will continue. I have a cholesterol blood test due on wednesday so that will be a bonus. I'm hoping my taste buds change a bit and food starts to taste a bit better soon. I've ordered some supplements which should be here in a couple of days. I'm going to take omega-3 (no omega-6), Vitamin B12, vitamin C and vitamin D. I've read some reports that your body can get quite sick when detoxifying, but I will keep you informed.

Thank you, I've decided not to take any supplements now. I will wait and see if I become deficient in anything and then get the requirements from my diet accordingly. It's a learning curve but to be honest it's turning out to be fun now. Had a HUGE bowl of rice today with veg and fresh tomatoes thrown in. Strange, my heartburn/reflux has given me no problems today, the first time I've been out of discomfort for months. Liking it so far.

Hi and great going. Initiating healthy eating is the difficult part, sustaining may just follow. You can add a touch of ‘sweeteners’ and even try very low fat & low protein milk. And the norm for hypertension is reduced salt, not total avoidance, reduce salt intake to less than 4 g of salt a day (approximately 1550 mg). So, totally don't devoid your diet of ‘all taste’, pep it up & add a little ‘zing’ to it, it will help sustain your diet program. And good luck with your lipid testing. Regards.
