Does Surgery Affect PVC's

Hi All,

I have a history of PVC's and I am scheduled to have a partial hysterectomy in the next few months and I am quite nervous!  Nobody likes going under but when you have heart rhythm issues, anxiety, etc. it makes it worse. Can anyone give me any feedback on how you did after surgery?  I'm very afraid.

Thanks!

You'll do great. I actually think that in certain cases of ectopics, general anesthesia can settle them down.

I really do appreciate all of the comments!  I am just trying to be positive at this point.  Marlinspike, I actually thought about asking them if they could do that for me-and epidural.  Ugh, these things are the pits!

I was having very frequent pvcs at the time of my full hysterectomy, thousands a day. I was absolutely terrified at the thought of the general anaesthetic, to the point where they agreed to try a spinal block instead. That didn't work so I had the general anaesthetic. Much to my surprise, the anaesthesiologist told me that my pvcs stopped whilst I was under. I am sure you will be just fine. Pvcs are not harmful in a normal heart according to everything I have read.

When I read my op reports (I worked for my surgeon at the time) I had no evtopics whatsoever during surgery! Hopefully it will  be the same for you. Good luck with your surgery and let us know how you do!

I was thinking "wow 48 hours...didn't know you could be under for that long lol."  Thanks so much for replying.  I think I'm honestly more worried about how I will do DURING the surgery.  I just scheduled it for November 12th and I have already stressed myself out!  I haven't had any type of surgery since I was diagnosed with PVC's and anxiety in 2007 so........  Much prayer much power!

I had thyroid cancer a while back, I had a total thyroidectomy etc. was under 48 hours with no problems. You will be fine. Good luck with your surgery!

You'll be fine!  I had a significant surgery last year.  I am an anxiety/PVC sufferer.  I was pretty worried but did great.  I was under general for about 3 hours.  Woke up in recovery just fine.  Anxiety and PVCs were minimal.  You'll get through it just fine.
