Potassium/electrolyte imbalance?

I am a 35 year old woman. I have dealt with "skipped heartbeats" occasionally since I was about 20. But the last week has been HORRIBLE! It's so bad at night that I can't sleep, convinced I'm gonna die. I also have major shortness of breath. Went to the doctor yesterday and mentioned I've been taking a lot of potassium lately "for my health" she said I was killing myself! Apparently potassium can increase dis/arrhythmia if you're already prone to them. Also told me that electrolyte imbalance can make "skipping" worse, even fatal. Just FYI. Basically, I am forgoing supplements in favor of more fresh, healthy food. Anyone else ever heard of this?

I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to scare anyone. I'm sure as long as you're not overdosing on potassium like I was you'll be fine. The doctor looked at my EKG, which was abnormal, but I think she came to the electrolyte imbalance just because of how much potassium I was taking. I have been drinking smart water yesterday and today. Last night was so much better and so far so good today. I have been researching like crazy and have concluded that in order to have electrolytes in balance I need to nix the supplements and just have a lot of freshly juiced juices and raw celery, tomatoes, etc...
