With today's current technology, meds may be your only recourse.  That could change in the future.  The condition isn't usually life threatening, but it can become a serious issue as you age.  At 59, when the doctor saw my 225bpm rate, he encouraged me to get it done asap.

I'd stay off caffeine and alcohol, perhaps try diferent drug therapies. There are a lot that you can try along witj different dossages.  Learn the methods if you don't already know of the ways to convert SVT. 54 years of SVT and never once to the ER as I learned how to convert them myself.

I have had the ablation and it did not help much. I also have a passage way that is too close to the SA node to burn. I was on several medications afterwards and none of them seem to work. I have been off the medications for a year now. You will always have the episodes and there is really nothing you can do. I have found I have a lot less problems when I do not have any caffine or fast food.
