On the klonopin front, I too got a small dose to start with. I then got my dose doubled and...boom, it was just what I needed. A higher dose of klonopin will knock you into a state where you don't care if you have heart palps or not. That's the way to really get some relief.
I really appreciate the replies. I actually do take Klonapin but a very small dose at night when I go to bed. I have also been dealing with these things for awhile and just can't get it through my head that they are not going kill me like my electrephelogist says but I guess that is the problem in itself. I have so many that I guess it really bothers me. Is there really people out there living with thousands a day everyday.
You mention the mental part of having these extra beats which is truly the worst thing about them. If you haven't looked into it, you may want to see about some anxiety medication to help you with that. You could likely get some relaxation with a benzo such as alprazolam or clonazapam.
These drugs are quite addictive so it is not recommended to take them on a routine basis, but they are great to relieve anxiety and take a break from the stress of having a jumpy heart. Also, many on this site (myself included) find that this class of drugs actually make the extra beats go away...which obviously implies that these beats are related to anxiety and stress on some level.
You sure can. Many of us on here do and some even more. As long as your heart is structurally good, it's just a matter of learning to live with them. I know that's easier said than done, it took me years. I've been dealing with them for well over two decades and sometimes still get freaked out over them. When they're really bothering me, I come on here, read other people's posts and remember I'm not alone and neither are you. Stay calm and keep posting :-)
